Seniors Craft Personalized Soaps in Eco-Friendly DIY Workshop

In a charming day care centre in Tychy, a unique workshop took place, aimed at promoting well-being and creativity among seniors. Organised by a popular website in collaboration with automotive giant Stellantis, the workshop focused on the creation of natural soaps, offering an opportunity for seniors to engage in a creative activity while learning about eco-friendly practices.

The guiding question for the workshop was simple yet profound: how to combine ecology, creativity, and well-being. In a cozy and friendly atmosphere, 18 seniors crafted their own personalised soap bars, experimenting with natural colorants and additives such as oatmeal, honey, and essential oils.

The workshop was designed to be more than just a crafting session. It was a multi-sensory, therapeutic experience where seniors engaged tactilely and aromatically with natural materials, promoting relaxation and well-being. Educational elements about the history and ecological impact of soap making were incorporated, connecting participants to traditional practices and modern green techniques.

Seniors were encouraged to personalise their soaps, allowing them to customise their creations with different textures, scents, and natural colorants. This fostered a sense of accomplishment and self-expression, enhancing their emotional connection and community.

Moreover, the workshop provided valuable lessons in creating homemade, natural cosmetics, ensuring that the soaps produced were skin-friendly and free from harmful microplastics, which are detrimental to aquatic life and ecosystems. The workshop not only taught a practical skill but also promoted ecological consciousness, stimulated creativity, and supported mental and physical wellness among seniors.

In a world where sustainability and self-care are increasingly important, these DIY natural soap making workshops for seniors are a testament to the power of creativity and community in promoting well-being and ecological awareness.

  1. The seniors in the workshop learned about environmental-science, specifically the ecological impact of soap making, to ensure their homemade soaps were skin-friendly and free from harmful microplastics.
  2. During the workshop, the seniors' creativity was fostered as they personalized their soap bars with different textures, scents, and natural colorants, such as oatmeal, honey, and essential oils.
