Wim Wenders, the acclaimed German filmmaker known for his works like "Buena Vista Social Club," "Paris, Texas," and "Wings of Desire," has made a significant change to his daily routine. The filmmaker, who resides near Berlin, announced that he has become an early riser, finding beauty in the morning hours and the ever-changing landscape that greets him each day.

In an announcement made to the German Press Agency, Wenders shared his newfound love for mornings, stating that he values the morning view so much that he doesn't want to miss it. The reason behind this change remains unclear, but the filmmaker expressed his joy in witnessing the world as it begins.

This change in sleep schedule, however, has not been reflected in Wenders' work or personal life, as no details about his current or upcoming projects were provided in the announcement. Wenders' 80th birthday, which falls on August 14, is being celebrated with a major exhibition titled "W.I.M. THE ART OF SEEING" at the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn.

The exhibition, which runs from August 1, 2025, to January 11, 2026, showcases Wenders' multifaceted artistic output beyond cinema. Visitors can expect to see a wide range of Wenders’ creative works, including his photographs, early collages, drawings, and ‘electronic paintings’ (digitally retouched video images).

The exhibition also features curated selections of Wenders' polaroids, revealing his artistic eye and capturing landscapes, solitude, and daily life moments. Iconic scenes from his best films and a large, immersive cinematographic installation are also part of the exhibition, allowing visitors to deeply experience Wenders' cinematic world.

Biographical and archival materials, including production documents, behind-the-scenes content, artistic inspirations from visual arts and music, will also be on display. An audio guide narrated by Wenders himself provides personal commentary and insight into the exhibition’s pieces and his creative process.

Following the exhibition in Bonn, a reimagined version will be held at the Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum (DFF) in Frankfurt from March 10 to October 9, 2026, with a different curatorial focus. The exhibition tells the story of Wenders' career in art and film, emphasizing his vision as a traveler and observer of the world.

As Wenders continues to explore the beauty of the mornings, his fans and admirers can look forward to a unique and immersive experience at "W.I.M. THE ART OF SEEING". Whether you're a fan of his films or an admirer of his art, this exhibition promises to be a journey through Wenders' creative world, offering a fresh perspective on his work and inspiration.
