Westwing promoting Lydia Kind to lead its marketing department.
In a significant move for the Home & Living sector, Lydia Kind has been appointed as the CEO of Westwing, effective from September 2025. Kind, who previously worked at branding agency Another Slang (a sister agency of Parasol Island), brings a wealth of experience to her new role.
Prior to joining Westwing, Kind served as the Global Creative Director at Zalando for over 7 years, where she played a crucial part in shaping the brand's identity. Her tenure at Zalando was followed by a stint as Senior Marketing Manager at fashion brand Diesel.
Rik Strubel, the previous Global Creative Director at Westwing, announced his departure from the company in May. Strubel's departure marks a change in leadership for Westwing and was first reported by "Campaign Germany", a publication under the Oberauer publishing group. The reasons for Strubel's departure were not disclosed.
Westwing's outgoing CEO, Andreas Hoerning, described Kind as a proven leader, a fantastic colleague, and someone who has taken the brand to a new level. Kind's goals at Westwing include further positioning the company as a premium one-stop destination for the Home & Living sector, ensuring it shines even more with a clearer focus, stronger collaboration, and creative excellence as the core. Her aim is to continue building Westwing into the superbrand in design.
No prior context was provided about the relationship between Westwing and Douglas, but it is worth noting that Rik Strubel has since joined Douglas as the Executive Vice President Marketing. The details of his role at Douglas were not disclosed.
Over the past 2.5 years, Kind has significantly driven the renewal of the Westwing brand. Her efforts have been instrumental in shaping the brand's current identity and setting it on a path towards continued success. As she steps into her new role as CEO, Kind is poised to lead Westwing into an exciting new chapter.
