Weinheim introduces a new musical composition

Rockin' the Bergstraße: Weinheim Unveils its Melodic Hiking Trail

Stepping into a symphony of local talent, Weinheim, Germany, introduces a 10-km hiking trail like no other - the Song Trail! This trail, one of the major projects during the Baden-Württemberg Homeland Days, links the Weinheim Odenwald districts of Rippenweier and Oberflockenbach (with Steinklingen and Wünschmichelbach) in a harmonious fusion.

With ease of access, there's a bus stop and parking lot at both the starting and ending points.

Twenty Musical Stops Await

As you tread this trail, you'll encounter 20 musical stations, each offering a melodious contribution every two kilometers. Using your mobile phone and a QR code on an info board, you canretrieve a tune from a choir, band, or musician hailing from either district. Your QR code scans lead you to a website where the songs and trail guidance are accessible from anywhere.

Mayor Just: A Pride of Local Roots

"Our Odenwald districts are brimming with cultural vitality and volunteer spirit," says Weinheim's Mayor Manuel Just, "I think there are few communities in the region that can boast such a rich diversity of musical heritage and local preservation."

A Symphony of Diversity

From classical singing societies and their youth choirs to two-man bands and the legendary Odenwald Devil's Fiddlers - the house musicians of the "Jöste Andres" inn in Rittenweier - the musical lineup is nothing short of eclectic.

The Seed of a Unique Idea

The Song Trail is the product of a network. The impetus originated from choir singers Ursula and Theo Groß, who discovered a similar trail during a choir trip with the Weinheim Pop and Jazz Choir. Inspired, they decided to replicate the concept at home. Soon, the singing societies MGV Rippenweier and the Singers' Association Oberflockenbach joined in. Together with local mayors Carola Meyer and Yvonn Nicolay, and the Homeland Days project manager Ada Goetz, they developed this innovative project, now ready to be enjoyed by the public.

Immerse yourself in a harmonious blend of lifestyle and outdoor-living as you discover the Song Trail in Weinheim, Germany. After your hike, unwind at home and garden, diving into the diverse collection of songs and trail guidance accessible exclusively online through your QR code scans.
