Happy International Volunteer Day to the unsung heroes of Dresden, Germany! Over 1,400 firefighters, 550 of whom are on call 24/7, work tirelessly across 21 local fire stations, ensuring the city's daily fire protection. But they're not alone - medical services and disaster response teams are there every step of the way.

These fearless volunteers perform numerous roles, assisting with a multitude of injuries, coordinating evacuations in high-pressure situations like bomb threats, and providing essential supplies. Without these selfless individuals, our city wouldn't function as smoothly as it does, emphasizes Jan Pratzka, Dresden's Mayor of Economics.

The aerial drone squad of the ASB supports firefighters from above, while the Crisis Intervention Team Dresden e.V. offers emotional support to families and those affected by emergencies. Their unwavering dedication is truly inspiring!

"On International Volunteer Day," Pratzka comments, "we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. Thank you for putting your lives on the line, day in and day out, for the people of Dresden and our city's visitors. We hope you always come back safe and sound, and we express our gratitude to your families too - they're the strong pillars that support you in your mission."
