Unity fortifies the power of The Blast.

A new business called BLAST emerged in the Quartier DIX30, Brossard last May. It's possible you're not familiar with this name since the temporary store, hosting approximately 20 small Quebec businesses, hasn't set up shop in a mall close to where you are yet.

Blast's power lies in its unity.

Unity fortifies the power of The Blast.

In the heart of Quartier DIX30, Brossard, a new shopping destination has emerged - the BLAST store. This all-in-one spot, now open until August 31st, 2024, features around 20 Quebec small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) under one roof [1].

The brainchild of Zachary Reffo, BLAST made its debut in 2023, initially aiming to open at Carrefour Laval but moving to Promenades St-Bruno due to space constraints. The store then expanded, sharing its larger space with other SMEs for a one-time pop-up event called BLAST [2].

The store's success is evident in its sales figures. The first BLAST store, which opened on Black Friday, generated nearly $350,000 in total sales within a month [3]. This trend continues, as recent videos shared by Mr. Reffo on TikTok have amassed over 80,000 views, showcasing the store's growing popularity [4].

BLAST is more than just a shopping destination. It democratizes the sale of second-hand clothing and objects, offering customers the opportunity to sell the clothes they no longer wear in a section called the "Clothing Swap" [1]. This approach seems to be resonating with customers, as Mr. Reffo notes that when customers who want to buy new items arrive at BLAST, they often find second-hand items and say, "Well, that's actually pretty cool" [5].

The team behind BLAST sees potential for the brand to expand beyond its current pop-up shop format. They aspire to one day set up smaller spaces dedicated to other Quebec brands within the branches of the thrift store Carole [6]. This expansion would align with the fundamental values of BLAST, as it was launched by the owners of Carole.

BLAST also aims to act as a consulting agency for SMEs that want to ensure the visibility of their brand. Xavier St-Onge-Leduc, responsible for shared online content, notes that the number of views can increase rapidly when the videos of all the brands are added together [1].

Despite its recent emergence, BLAST has made a significant impact on the shopping landscape in Quebec. It offers a unique, trendy, and centralized shopping experience, engaging a youthful and social media-savvy audience. However, detailed information about its founding date, growth, or measurable success indicators such as attendance figures, media coverage, or economic impact is limited [1]. Further research or direct sources from event organizers would be needed to provide a comprehensive history and success evaluation.
