This year's Carnival of Cultures in Berlin, known for promoting cultural diversity and artistic freedom, took a different route through the city. On Sunday, around 4,000 participants paraded with 68 floats, no longer passing through Kreuzberg and Neukölln, but instead making their way through Friedrichshain. The shift in location was primarily due to temporary construction at the parade's conventional spot in Kreuzberg[1].
The wider streets of Friedrichshain, like Frankfurter Allee and Karl-Marx-Allee, could accommodate larger crowds and potentially offer improved visibility for the varied cultures represented. By its 26th edition, the Carnival of Cultures, which has been taking place annually since 1996 under the open sky around Kreuzberg Blücherplatz, was hosted by around 700 artists and musicians. The festival celebrated its milestone with about 4,500 active participants, and, fortunately, no major incidents were reported until Sunday afternoon, according to the police[4].
