Simple DIY Air-Drying Clay Ring Organizer (Great for Beginners!)

Hey there, crafting buddy! Let's dive into a DIY project that's as fun as it is practical – a DIY air dry clay ring holder. This project is perfect for you if you've got a smidgen of crafting experience and are up for some simple hand painting.

Remember the good old days of crafting in Montessori preschool? Well, this project will take you right back. We'll be working with clay, a tactile and creative medium that we Montessori kids had a field day with. Remember those trinket dishes we used to make? Now, we're updating it for the modern age!

This air dry clay ring holder isn't just a stylish way to organize your beloved jewelry – it's a fabulous handmade gift idea for birthdays, holidays, Mother's Day, bridesmaid gifts, teachers, or even a sweet surprise for a jewelry-loving friend.

You might be thinking, "But I've never worked with clay before!" Fear not, this project is beginner-friendly. It's a relaxing and enjoyable process, allowing you to experiment with different shapes, colors, and designs.

So, without further ado, grab your clay and roll up those sleeves – let's get crafting!

Materials:- Air dry clay or polymer clay- Parchment paper- Multi-surface craft paint (your choice of colors)- Clear acrylic sealer (Mod Podge or another suitable sealer)

Equipment:- Rolling pin- Circle cookie cutter (or any shape you fancy)- Bowl(s)- Paintbrush(es)

Let's make a clay trinket dish – aka our DIY ring holder.

  1. Warm up the clay in your hands and then roll it out with the rolling pin to about 1/4" thick.
  2. Cut out a shape using the cookie cutter. If you want a more dish-like shape, use the bottom of a bowl to mold your clay. Place parchment paper over the bowl and smooth down the clay. Wet your finger and run it around the clay to smooth it off.
  3. Let the clay dry for a few hours to a few days until it has hardened.
  4. Sketch your design onto the hardened clay using a pencil.
  5. Once dry, paint your design – you can go with flowers, animal figures, stripes, dots, or any design that floats your boat.
  6. Seal your creation with an appropriate sealer like Mod Podge. Let it dry and voila!

As we venture into creating this clay trinket dish, let's not forget the joy of working with clay, a revival of the creative memories from our childhood Montessori days, when we crafted various items, including trinket dishes.
