Saskatchewan Unveils $15M Rafferty Dam Upgrade Plan
The Saskatchewan Water Security Agency has unveiled a $15 million infrastructure plan for Estevan's Rafferty Dam. The project, part of a 10-year improvement plan, aims to enhance water security and safety in the region.
The Rafferty Reservoir, which supplies water to Estevan and the Shand Power Station, also provides crucial flood protection downstream. The upgrades include a $2.5 million enhancement to the control structure at the Rafferty diversion channel. Additionally, $10 million has been allocated for improvements to the dam's spillway, new piping, and a new drainage pumping station.
Hon. David Marit, the Minister of Agriculture and Minister responsible for the Water Security Agency, announced these projects. The Rural Municipality of Estevan also received an additional $2.5 million for road improvements. The Water Security Agency plans to invest around $38 million in 2025-26 on over 60 water infrastructure projects across Saskatchewan.
The $15 million investment in Estevan's Rafferty Dam ensures long-term safety and water supply security for the region. The projects, part of a larger 10-year plan, demonstrate the government's commitment to improving water infrastructure in Saskatchewan.
