Return of the Bucharest Opera Festival in June, featuring a lineup of ten captivating performances.

The Bucharest National Opera has unveiled the agenda for the fourth installment of the Bucharest Opera Festival, slated to unfold this summer from June 15 to 24. Over ten captivating nights, attendees will immerse themselves in an eclectic lineup of opera, ballet, operetta, musicals, rock operas, and concerts, courtesy of ensembles hailing from Romania, Moldova, and Bulgaria.

The upcoming festival intends to unite a dozen productions from eminent theatrical institutions, such as the Maria Bieşu National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Chisinau and the Ruse Opera. Participating Romanian organizations include the Iaşi and Timişoara National Opera Houses, the Cluj-Napoca Hungarian Opera, the Opera in Brasov, the "Nae Leonard" Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Galatii, and the Radio Chamber Orchestra.

The festival will unfold at the Romanian National Opera in Bucharest, drawing over 1,500 performers, musicians, dancers, and technical staff. Each day, the stage will undergo a transformation to accommodate completely different performances.

The 2022 edition stresses a broader celebration of Romania's lyrical culture, offering works like Nabucco, Cinderella, Faust, Jesus Christ Superstar, and more, presented in productions that highlight the region's operatic wealth and variety.

Tickets can be procured at tickets.operanb.ro and at the Romanian National Opera's box office. The program is available here.

The Bucharest Opera Festival's fourth installment also extends to a home-and-garden makeover, as the organizers are planning to revamp the Romanian National Opera's lobby, creating a tranquil lifestyle corner for attendees to unwind between performances.

As the festival aims to showcase Romania's rich operatic heritage, it is collaborating with local home-and-garden enthusiasts to design this relaxation lounge, incorporating elements of Romanian folk art and architecture, offering festivalgoers a unique chance to experience this culture beyond the stage.
