Regensburg prepares for the Regensburg Bürgerfest in 2025: Excitement Building for the City's Upcoming Celebration
Regensburg Bürgerfest Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Extensive Cultural Program
This summer, Regensburg will host its 25th Bürgerfest, a rich, three-day celebration expanding across the Old Town and Stadtamhof from June 20 to June 22, 2025 [2][3]. The event promises a vibrant open-air stage, showcasing music, art, theater, children’s activities, culinary delights, and entertainment in the city’s plazas, courtyards, and alleyways [2][3].
The Alten Kornmarkt will feature the "Chorbühne," a stage dedicated to choral performances by numerous choirs and vocal ensembles from Regensburg and the surrounding area [3]. Additionally, sustainability efforts will be highlighted through the "Nachhaltigkeitsmeile," a showcase of local organizations and communities promoting environmental awareness and sustainable living [4].
Families and children should particularly enjoy the "Kinderzauber" program at Gutenbergplatz and Grieser Spitz, featuring magic acts, face painting, crafting, dance shows, and other enchanting activities [2]. The Krangondel action, offering a ride in an autokran to 80 meters in height with a breathtaking view, will once again be a highlight [3].
For flea market enthusiasts, the DillyDally-Design-Promenade along the Danube and the Regensburg Hofflohmärkte at Grieser Spitz offer opportunities to stroll and discover. Special actions, concerts, and guided tours will be provided by the Regensburg churches and chapels, including an escape game around the Dreieinigkeitskirche and open-air church services at the Neupfarrplatz [2].
The Bürgerfest will commence with a relaxed, family-friendly program on the Jahninsel on June 19, 2025, at 6:30 PM. On June 20, 2025, Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer will officially open the festival at the Domplatz at 6 PM, accompanied by numerous guests from partner cities. The opening ceremony will include performances by the rock band Southern Ways from Tempe, Arizona, and a dance group from the Hungarian partner city of Budavár [2].
