Powerful Women, Robust Hand Gear: Celebrating Female Strength and Durability

In 2000, Dorian Winslow, the visionary behind Womanswork, purchased a small leather glove company with a unique mission - to create work gloves specifically tailored for women's hands. Over three decades later, Womanswork continues to lead the way in women-focused gardening accessories, prioritising comfort, protection, and style.

Womanswork's initial design revolutionised the industry by acknowledging that most standard gloves were designed for men's hand sizes and shapes. Recognising the need for a tailored fit, Womanswork gloves were the first work gloves made expressly for women. This thoughtful approach improves comfort and dexterity during gardening tasks.

The gloves feature extra-long cuffs, offering added protection from stinging weeds, scratches, and biting insects often encountered in the garden. Balancing protection with functionality, the gloves incorporate breathable, comfortable fabrics to help keep hands cool during work.

Womanswork offers a comprehensive solution for gardening safety and style, with coordinated gardening sets that include gloves, matching aprons, hats, and tool sets. These sets cater to the needs of gardeners and master gardeners looking for better all-season plant care comfort and protection.

Over the years, Womanswork has expanded its product line to include a line of men's gloves, reflecting the company's commitment to catering to diverse gardening needs. However, the company's primary focus remains on designing and producing gardening gloves and supplies for women.

Caroline Bloomfield, Manager of Marketing Communications at Womanswork since 2019, shares Dorian's appreciation for sustainability and organic care for the planet. In 2023, Womanswork joined 1% For The Planet, committing 1% of its gross sales to environmental causes. Recipients of Womanswork's environmental donations include Patagonia, Pesticide Action Network of America, Beyond Plastics, City Harvest & Food Distribution of NY, and Hudson River clean-up efforts.

Dorian's mother and husband have provided support for the business, while Caroline Bloomfield, who has been writing and editing for various publications since 1998, brings her expertise in marketing communications to the table. Dorian developed glove patterns recognising that "men's and women's hands are simply shaped differently".

Womanswork's catchphrase, "Strong Women Building A Gentle World", encapsulates the company's ethos - empowering women through practical, stylish, and eco-friendly gardening accessories. Today, Womanswork continues to be a beacon of innovation in the gardening industry, setting the standard for women-focused gardening accessories that prioritise both safety and comfort in outdoor work.

Womanswork's gardening sets, which include gloves, aprons, hats, and tool sets, offer a perfect combination of home-and-garden essentials and lifestyle choices, catering to the needs of discerning gardeners. The company's primary focus remains on creating stylish, woman-friendly gardening accessories that ensure comfort and protection during gardening tasks, setting a standard in the home-and-garden sector.
