Police officer from Harvard reenacts 15-year-old snapshot alongside female student who now attends the institution
In a heartwarming reunion, Crystal Wang, a successful alumna of Harvard University, was reunited with Officer Charles Marren, a familiar face from her early childhood at the university. The event, which took place on Wang's move-in day this year, has since garnered significant attention on social media.
Wang, who was accepted into Harvard's dual degree program with the Berklee College of Music, shared a new image of the reunion on her social media platforms. In the image, Wang is seen riding Officer Marren's motorcycle instead of the traditional pose of sitting in his arms. The post has already amassed over 53,000 likes.
The reunion was more than just a photo opportunity for Wang. In an interview with CNN, she expressed her feelings of connection with Officer Marren, mentioning that she did not remember their first meeting in 2004 but felt a strong bond during their recent encounter.
Some social media users were taken aback by the likeness of Officer Marren, stating that he hardly seems to have aged a bit. A commenter even praised Officer Marren, saying 'he has to be commended... for reversing the aging process.'
Officer Marren, who is still employed by Harvard University, was wearing a uniform similar to the one he wore in the 2004 photo. The reconnection was made possible when Wang's father, Jin, who was visiting Boston on a business trip, showed her an old photo of the meeting and suggested trying to find out if Officer Marren was still working for the university.
A reporter with the Harvard Gazette recognised Officer Marren from the old photo posted on social media, leading to the emotional reunion. Today, Officer Marren continues to serve the university community, providing a sense of continuity and familiarity for students like Crystal Wang.
