Paul's Farm Crowns Giant 594kg Pumpkin Winner
Paul's Farm hosted the 'First Hessian Pumpkin Weighing Championship', attracting both professional growers and local enthusiasts. The event aimed to crown the heaviest homegrown pumpkin in the region, with the winner receiving a cash prize and other rewards.
The competition saw a variety of entries, with the heaviest pumpkin at the weigh-in in Hofheim am Taunus tipping the scales at 594 kilograms. However, the German record for pumpkin weighing stands at 1,052 kilograms, set previously, and the Guinness World Record is an impressive 1,247 kilograms.
The winning pumpkin, a massive 594 kilograms, was grown by Paulinenpflege Winnenden in Baden-Württemberg. The victory earned them a cash prize of €500 and a gift basket worth over €100. The winning pumpkin will be exhibited until October 31st, if the grower agrees, giving the public a chance to marvel at its size.
Botanically, a pumpkin is classified as a berry. After the competition, the winner's seeds will be used for next year's crop, aiming to grow an even larger pumpkin. The winner also receives fame, trophies, and certificates, further incentivising participation in future events.
The 'First Hessian Pumpkin Weighing Championship' at Paul's Farm was a successful event, attracting diverse participants and crowning a worthy winner. The competition not only showcased the region's agricultural prowess but also fostered community engagement and excitement.
