Outdoor Yoga Session Held at Alaunpark

Dresden-Neustadt's Alaunpark will once again be the tranquil setting for a series of outdoor yoga classes, running from July 21, 2025, until August 24. The sessions, which are part of the sixteenth edition of the Palais Sommer, will be held in the evenings from 6 pm and during the day, starting at 8 am on weekdays and 9 am on weekends.

Over 70 units of yoga classes will be offered in a span of 35 days, catering to a diverse range of interests and abilities. Among the styles on offer are Hatha Yoga, Qi Gong, Biodanza, Family Yoga, Kids Yoga, Laughter Yoga, and Pregnancy Yoga.

The event features a Hatha Yoga session led by the experienced yoga teacher Katja Siemens from "Treffpunkt Yoga". The session includes various variations of the Sun Salutation, a powerful and comprehensive exercise sequence in yoga.

The yoga classes aim to foster a sense of community by inviting participants to join the session in a unique outdoor setting. It encourages attendees to engage in mindful and conscious living. The class is designed to capitalize on the park's blend of urban flair and green tranquility, creating a distinctive yoga experience in Dresden.

Admission is free, and no registration is required, but participants are advised to bring their own yoga mats. On Sunday, July 27, a "bring-your-own-picnic" is invited after the yoga session, followed by a book market for spiritual nourishment.

Jörg Polenz, the managing director of the festival company, has been practicing yoga for 15 years and wants to use the annual event to "create community". Anja Polenz, the press officer, hopes that the yoga sessions in Neustadt will be as well-received as they were at the Church of Our Lady, where over 2,500 people participated.

While the art and cultural offerings of the Palais Sommer are important, "the most lasting experience is still the physical experience" according to Jörg Polenz. The yoga classes will continue until August 24, 2025, with up to 50 instructors leading the sessions and up to 250 participants expected daily.
