Autumn Festival at Hagen Open-Air Museum

The Hagen Open-Air Museum of the Westphalian-Lippe Regional Association (LWL) is hosting its annual autumn festival on the first weekend of October (30.9. / 1.10.). This event features a regional farmers' and artisans' market, interactive activities, and pumpkin carving.

Visitors can find a variety of local produce at the farmers' market in front of the Gelbgießerei, including honey, liqueurs, sausage and cheese specialties, jams, nuts, potatoes, vegetables, and fresh fruit. The artisans' market on the upper museum square offers ideas for autumn home décor with indigo printing, soap art, glass, silver, or textile jewelry, felting and wool products, ceramics, flower arrangements, and woven baskets.

Local poultry breeders will display a range of familiar and lesser-known breeds, and visitors can observe traditional sheep herding with Border Collies demonstrations by Sigrid Korth from Wetter on both days. Interactive activities like basket weaving, jewelry making, and blacksmithing are available for participants of all ages. Pony rides will be available for horse-loving children on both days, with pumpkin carving and children's workshops on Sunday.

Various competitions for adults and children, including the "Potato Master," potato-related activities, and brewery demonstrations will take place throughout the event. Habbels firm will present wines from Veneto for the first time at the autumn festival.

On Sunday from 2 to 4 pm, the band "Pilgerfathers" from the LWL residential community in Hemer will provide musical entertainment in Hagen's most beautiful beer garden on the upper square in front of the brewery. Food and drink stands and the Museumsterrassen restaurant will cater to visitors on both days, offering grilled and autumn specialties, such as pumpkin cream soup, onion cake, and young wine.

A free shuttle bus will run from the museum parking lot to the alternative parking lot at the Cartbahn Beule on Sunday afternoon between 1 and 6 pm.
