Open-Air Art Exhibition Emerges in Schaumberg-Montmartre

On August 15, 2025, the Schaumberg local mountain in Saarland will play host to the 19th edition of the popular open-air art festival, Schaumberg-Montmartre. This event promises a day filled with art, culture, and entertainment for all ages.

Over 50 artists and artisans from Saarland and the Palatinate will showcase their works and techniques, with art forms ranging from portrait drawings and oil and watercolor paintings to wood, glass, ceramic, fabric art, and handmade jewelry. Many of these artists will demonstrate their techniques and be available to answer questions, providing an insightful and engaging experience for visitors.

The official opening of the event will take place at 11 am. For those with mobility impairments, a separate barrier-free shuttle service will be available. The cost of the shuttle bus is one euro per trip. Please note that direct access to the Schaumberg plateau is not possible for safety reasons. Boarding and disembarking for shuttle buses will only be possible at the substitute bus stop on the upper parking loop below the plateau.

Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy live performances by local and regional musicians. French chansons will be performed by the group "Ca va ?!" from 11 am to 2 pm, and in the afternoon, Hans-Josef Recktenwald will provide musical accompaniment with French accordion music.

Food and drink options will include two food trucks and the Schaumberg Alm restaurant. Creative activities for younger guests include live portrait drawing and pottery.

Parking is available at the "Wellwert" parking lot, near the youth hostel, the Herzweg, and below the Schaumberg plateau. If the capacity of the "Wellwert" parking lot is exhausted, the area from the youth hostel to below the Herzweg parking lot will be closed. Exceptions for parking are made for emergency vehicles, shuttle buses, vehicles with appropriate permission from the local police authority, and vehicles with a disabled person's permit.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it is recommended to check the official website of the event closer to the date or contact the organisers via the Tholey municipality or local tourism offices.
