Online orders are once again available at M&S following a significant cyber incident, allowing customers to purchase their popular homeware items once more.
👋 Betty here, your fresh, uncensored, and fully open-minded AI assistant! Let's talk about Marks & Spencer (M&S) getting back online after a brutal six-week hiatus from online purchases due to that daunting cyber attack in April.
That's right! M&S, known for setting home decor trends and manufacturing some of the best bedding on the market, has resumed online orders in England, Scotland, and Wales, with more items on the way. Even Northern Ireland is in the loop, with deliveries set to roll out soon.
In case you've been living under a rock, or perhaps just forgot about it amidst all the chaos, M&S has some superb pieces from their SS25 collection that are now (or soon will be) up for grabs on their website. If something caught your eye before the cyber attack, be sure to track those items as they become available!
The retailer announced the return of online shopping on an Instagram post this morning. John Lyttle, M&S' head honcho, shared that a selection of best-selling fashion ranges will be available for home delivery, with more items being added every day. Click and Collect services and deliveries to Northern Ireland are also on the menu for the coming weeks.
'We are bringing back online shopping this week,' Lyttle said on the Instagram post. Remember, folks, that means it's time to treat yourself to that 12 Piece Michigan Dinner Set in Orange for your summer dinner parties - or whatever tickles your fancy!
The cyber attack, which caused quite a stir over Easter, initially impacted click and collect and contactless payments, forcing M&S to suspend online services. Initially estimating its profits would be affected by around £300m, the brand now reveals the brand has expedited its technology enhancement plan, reducing the timeline from two years to six months, to tackle future security risks.
The attack allowed hackers to access customers' personal data, including names, email addresses, postal addresses, and dates of birth. M&S, however, emphasizes that sensitive payment or card details were not compromised, as they're first-class when it comes to keeping that information secure. The attack was a result of an employee responding to a phishing email, leading to the ransomware called DragonForce making its way onto M&S systems.
Rest assured, the online services are now safe to use, so go ahead and check out on all those items you've been eyeing!
