Four non-conformist paddlers are pushing the limits by embarking on a wild journey of approximately 273 miles on a monstrous stand-up paddleboard (SUP), taking off from Hann. Münden and sailing their way to Bremerhaven. This motley crew, known as Weser4Lions, is determined to conquer this distance in a mere 100 hours, braving both day and night on the open, choppy waters. Their mission? To shower some much-needed cash on the children's hospice Löwenzahn.

They catch some Z's

Axel Bischof informs German Press Agency at the Hameln weir about their unusual sleeping arrangements: "At night, two of us can snooze by lying lengthwise on the board, while the other two keep paddling. The night can be freezing, but hey, a beautiful sunrise makes it all worth it." Despite the goosebumps, safety is the top priority for these daredevils. The men, securely tethered to the board, don life jackets to ensure a restful slumber on the high seas.

On-demand rest stops

"There are 7 locks dotting the route where we haul the board ashore - just like here in Hameln." These brief breaks serve as refueling opportunities. The ravenous adventurers can quickly grab a snack, but they can also chow down whenever they see fit, thanks to their ever-faithful supply vehicles. "We can call them, and our supplies will be delivered right to the SUP." Hydration and energy bites are on hand for the long haul.

Challenge for a worthy cause

"It's crucial to back outstanding projects,” Ulf Schwarz asserts, referring to their audacious adventure. "We're on a mission to benefit the children's hospice Löwenzahn in Syke because we firmly believe that hospice work is of paramount importance." Each hospice in Germany leaves a lasting impact.

As Schwarz points out, the hardest parts of their paddle journey will be the relentless cold nights, the erratic winds, and the upcoming tides in Bremen. “Headwind can give us a run for our money, and come onshore, the North Sea can knock us sideways."
