In a surprising turn of events, Livia Forche has resigned from her position as the director of the Holzknecht Museum in Ruhpolding, Germany, after a tenure of just one year. The reasons behind her departure are reportedly linked to differences in vision and conflicts with the local authorities overseeing the museum.

The search for a new director for the Holzknecht Museum is currently underway. The Municipality of Ruhpolding is actively seeking a qualified individual to lead the museum, with a focus on finding a candidate who aligns with the museum's goals and objectives.

Livia Forche's predecessor, Dr. Ingeborg Schmid, also recently returned to her Austrian homeland. Schmid, who held the position for several years, was offered an attractive teaching and museum position in Austria, which she accepted.

Forche, who has returned to her home near Bamberg, has been offered the directorship of a renowned museum with a more attractive salary. However, she chose to step down from her role at the Holzknecht Museum, citing disagreements over the museum's management and development plans as the primary reason. These disagreements reportedly made it difficult for her to continue in the role.

Ruhpolding's Mayor Justus Pfeifer expressed his regret at Forche's departure, stating that he had hoped for a longer and more successful collaboration. He emphasised the museum's importance to the town and the community, and expressed optimism about the search for a new director.

Access to the Holzknecht Museum can be obtained by registering with a subscription number. Subscription to the print or ePaper version of the local newspaper is an option. For those interested in visiting the museum, a 24-hour pass, a week pass, and a month pass are available for purchase.

As the search for a new director continues, the Holzknecht Museum remains a significant cultural attraction in Ruhpolding, offering visitors a unique glimpse into the region's history and heritage.
