Merve Bianca Sorgente Brings Diversity Vision to Moenchengladbach Music School
Merve Bianca Sorgente, a 42-year-old music enthusiast with a rich background in orchestral music and music pedagogy, has taken the helm as the new leader of the music school in Moenchengladbach. Born in 1980, Sorgente aims to bring diversity and cultural richness to the school's offerings.
Sorgente's vision for the school includes increasing the representation of music from various cultures. To achieve this, she has established an inclusion officer position to promote diversity and accessibility. Before her role in Moenchengladbach, Sorgente served as deputy director of the Musikschule Krefeld.
Her passion for music began at the Hochschule für Musik Dresden, where she studied music pedagogy. Sorgente's experience as a violinist with the Braunschweiger Staatsorchester and the Bielefeld Philharmonic Orchestra has further enriched her musical journey. She has also founded a youth symphony orchestra in Duesseldorf, demonstrating her commitment to nurturing young talent.
Sorgente's Italian heritage, evident in her love for writing songs and singing in Italian, adds a personal touch to her leadership. She plans to recruit young talent among the teaching staff by building cooperations with nearby universities, further strengthening the music school's program. With her dedication to diversity, accessibility, and cultural participation, Sorgente is poised to lead the music school in Moenchengladbach towards a vibrant and inclusive future.
