Mannheim Residents Get Free Leaf Disposal in Biotonne, 14 Times a Week
Mannheim residents can now dispose of la from their private gardens for free in the biotonne, with collections starting late October and happening 14 times a week. The city has also placed around 100 wire mesh leaf collection baskets in streets with large trees, aiding residents in managing fallen la.
The leaf collection service has been enhanced this year, with the city installing approximately 100 wire mesh baskets in streets like Meerwiesenstraße, Dürerstraße, and Am Oberen Luisenpark. These baskets are exclusively for la from city trees, not private gardens. Residents can use them to dispose of la, but not branches or trash. Each household can also dispose of up to 1 m³ of la for free at the city's recycling centers.
The city plans to further expand the leaf collection service in 2025. The number of collection baskets will more than double, although specific streets for the increased service have not yet been announced.
