Luxury Rides for Visitors: Dubai Police's High-End Vehicles - Luxury Vehicles for Tourists: Dubai Police's Showcase of Elite Supercars
For more than two decades, a special force within the Dubai Police has been patrolling the streets in luxury sports cars that are the talk of the town for their jaw-dropping price tags and breakneck speeds. Instead of chasing down miscreants or traffic violators, these officers are ambassadors of their country, clocking hours at popular tourist spots and serving as the ultimate selfie companion. It's only recently that electric cars have started joining the ranks, much to the delight of both police and visitors—as long as they put the pedal to the metal!
Supercar Patrol for Iconic Locales
It's sunset at the "Frame" today, one of Dubai's most iconic tourist attractions, and the heat is finally starting to ease up as temperatures drop below the blistering 40-degree mark. Ali Yousif, a 39-year-old officer, has come to this northern part of the city with his colleagues from headquarters: they're eager to show off the latest rides from their collection.
Dressed in his resplendent uniform, Ali has been serving with the Dubai Police for two decades and made it into the most sought-after elite unit. But while SWAT teams are involved in clandestine operations against organized crime or smuggling rings, Ali and his colleagues are on a different mission. Their task is to keep the peace and maintain order at tourist hotspots—and to make a lasting impression on those who cross their paths.
The Dubai Police Supercar Fleet: Born in 2001
"We've been deploying this fleet for over twenty years now," Ali Yousif reminisces, looking every bit the action hero in his green uniform. "As of now, we have 18 supercars in our fleet. We use these vehicles to ensure order and safety at busy tourist spots."
The Dubai Police Supercar Fleet has become synonymous with the city and the United Arab Emirates over the years. The list reads like a who's who of luxury brands: Ferrari Gran Lusso, Lamborghini Urus, Porsche Panamera, Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Bentley Continental, BMW 8 Series Coupé, Mercedes-AMG GT.
With Ali at the wheel of his electric Lotus Emira, his colleagues are patrolling the grounds today in a stellar lineup that includes a Rolls-Royce Cullinan Mansory, Bentley Continental GT, Audi R8, and even a Tesla Cybertruck.
Car Manufacturers Keep the Supplies Rolling
Automotive giants worldwide clamor to provide the Dubai Police with their most impressive and costly patrol vehicles—a perk that's just as appealing to the officers as it is to tourists eager for that once-in-a-lifetime selfie. "We're the face of our country's tourism industry," Ali explains, "so there are no high-speed chases with the supercars; those are for the regular officers."
Disagreements between colleagues over who gets to drive which supercar are nonexistent, as the prestigious rides are assigned through rotating schedules—just like any other police vehicle. Officers routinely move between departments, ensuring that serving on the supercar squad is but one of many roles within the Dubai Police. Ali Yousif is thrilled to be currently part of the team.
Armed and Dangerous... Well, Sort Of
The powerful Lamborghini Urus Performante recently joined the fleet, thanks to the Dubai Police's ongoing efforts to increase the number of patrol officers in key locations. "This potent super SUV will help us better serve residents and maintain social security at popular tourist destinations," said General Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police.
The supercars, faithfully painted white and green with blue LED lights, are loaded with extra gear such as armored plating, first aid kits, and defibrillators, ensuring that officers are ready for any situation. In an emergency, they could zip off to one of Dubai's numerous hospitals in record time.
Regular training ensures officers are familiar with all the vehicles in the fleet—an essential skill given that they may switch roles and departments frequently throughout their careers.
Keeping Dubai Shining Bright
The Dubai Police Supercar Fleet is shorthand for the city's forward-thinking spirit, blending cutting-edge technology with an unwavering commitment to community engagement and tourism promotion. While exact details about its history and inner workings may be scarce, its impact is undeniable.
- In the spirit of promoting a vibrant lifestyle, Ali Yousif and his colleagues from the Dubai Police's Supercar Patrol unit use their vocational training to maintain order and safety at tourist hotspots, offering a unique outdoor-living experience for visitors.
- Amidst the glamour of luxury vehicles like the Ferrari Gran Lusso and Lamborghini Urus, the Dubai Police's Community Policy also emphasizes the importance of vocational training for its officers, preparing them to switch roles and adapt to different situations in the ever-evolving home-and-garden that is their city.
