Loss Themed Writers at Tiny Marmora Festival in Maira Valley
In the picturesque Italian village of Borgata Superiore di Marmora, a small literary festival named "Authors in Transit" is set to take place on June 14 and 15. This event, organized by the association Luoghi di Passaggio and Stella Maris bookstore, aims to foster connections and offer insightful discussions on coping mechanisms when life becomes unsettled. Father Sergio De Piccoli, a Benedictine monk, and his library containing 62,500 volumes have long been a beacon for introspection and unity in the community.
Monica Heidi Rosano, the festival's artistic director, explains that the event will tackle the theme "Kintsugi. Repairing Life" by emphasizing resilience and positivity in the face of loss, be it personal, emotional, or professional. Rosano, who practices relationship mediation, plans to use the festival to transform fragility into strength, engaging particularly with younger participants.
On June 14, the event will feature discussions with Adama Kone, Esther Weber, Maura Anfossi, Paolo Milone, Massimo Angelini, Alessandra Gondolo, and a closing DJ set by Maurizio Lore. On June 15, Barbara Giroldo, Alberto Abba, Luca Blengino, Mario Capello, and Mario Dalmasso will take center stage. A workshop for children aged 6 to 10 led by illustrator Marco Paschetta on June 14 at 2:30 PM and a clay world discovery session with Elena Mazzarello on June 15 at 2:30 PM will also be part of the program (registrations at 3280341212).
On June 13, psychiatrist Paolo Milone, author of "Una piccola fine del mondo. Intorno alla crisi psicotica," will present his latest book at 5:30 PM at the Lanteri Cinema in Cuneo. This event, organized by the Stella Maris bookstore, will feature a dialogue with psychiatrist Andrea Barbieri and Massimo Mathis, responsible for the Cuneo office of the association's website.
The intimate festival will accommodate 150 attendees for each day, with tickets priced at 3 euros, available for advance purchase on autoridipassaggio.it. Local and non-local guests will be in attendance, and street food will be provided by Mb Pastificio di Piasco on both days. Additionally, on June 15, the association týptōpapé will propose creative typographic workshops. For more information or to reserve seats for Milone's June 13 presentation, please contact 0171681458.
