London's Bancone Restaurant in Soho
Bancone, the all-day fresh pasta restaurant, has expanded its presence in London with the opening of its second site at 10 Lower James Street in Soho. The new location, designed by Innovare Design, provides seating for around 90 diners and features a sizeable basement for a private dining area and cocktail bar.
The restaurant's decor is bright, airy, and relaxed, with a central olive tree and several dining counters where guests can watch the chefs at work. Stefano Cilia, the head chef at Bancone, has created a menu that includes everyday favourites and monthly-changing seasonal specials.
Cilia, a restaurateur who took over the kitchen of Bancone in Soho in 2017, has drawn inspiration from the 20 regions of Italy for the menu. Pastas are skillfully made by hand every day, and the menu features dishes such as 'Silk handkerchiefs with walnut butter and confit egg yolk.'
The wine list showcases the best from Italy, with a few international favourites. The wines on the menu have been chosen by the team for quality and value for money at every price point. The Bancone team had "great fun" compiling the wine list and sourced wines from various producers, including small, family-run vineyards and reputable wine makers.
The original Bancone site opened in Covent Garden in June 2018 and received outstanding reviews from ES Magazine and The Guardian. The new site, which is located just south of Golden Square in the heart of London's Soho, follows suit with its traditional dishes and new creations that push culinary boundaries with integrity and passion.
