Large crowds of approximately 2000 individuals gathered for the celebrations along Gorky Magistral
The "Reaching Goals" charity run, held on the Gorky Mainline, marked a significant event in the region's calendar last August. This annual run is aimed at raising funds for various charitable organizations, with this year's proceeds going towards the non-profit organization "Fund 'Nizhny Novgorod Oncological Scientific Center' ("NOCF").
The run, which took place on August 4, 2025, was part of the broader celebrations for Railway Worker's Day. The festivities, held at the Park of Culture and Rest named after May 1, included cultural performances, exhibitions, awards ceremonies, community activities, and a musical concert by creative groups from the Central Palace of Culture of Railway Workers.
The charity run offered several distances to cater to participants of all ages and abilities. Children aged 3-4 could participate in a 80m run with parental accompaniment, while children aged 5-13 could run 500m. Those aged 14 and adults could run 1520m, with separate categories for women over 55 and men over 60. A family relay for teams of three was also available, and for running enthusiasts aged 18 and up, a 3000m run was organised.
Medals were given to all participants, with those who placed first, second, and third receiving medals, diplomas, and commemorative gifts. The events were reported by the GJD press service, a subsidiary of JSC "RZD".
In addition to the charity run, the Gorky Mainline organised free screenings of the artistic film "Roads to Victory" (6+) about the heroic deeds of railway workers. These screenings were dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Year of Railway Glory in JSC "RZD," and Railway Worker's Day.
Over 2,000 people participated in the festive events, and the charity run managed to raise nearly 500,000 rubles for the treatment of seriously ill children. The free rides on the Children's Railway of Nizhny Novgorod, which allowed everyone to ride the route Rодина - Pushkino - Счастливая - Родина for free during the festivities, added to the community spirit of the day.
The "Reaching Goals" charity run continues to be an important event in the region, raising funds for worthy causes and promoting social welfare among the railway community.
- Participants who enjoy outdoor-living and sports could participate in the family relay during the "Reaching Goals" charity run.
- Home-and-garden activities were not part of the celebrations for Railway Worker's Day, but cultural performances, sports events, and musical concerts were.
- With sports-analysis not provided, it's unclear if the placement in the charity run's races had any correlation with the heroic deeds depicted in the screened film "Roads to Victory".
