With an estimated 150,000 visitors, the recent Krämerbrücke Festival in Erfurt was a massive hit! This year's celebration marked a momentous milestone: 7 centuries of the stone Krämerbrücke.
The star attraction of Thuringia's capital city, the bridge lined with houses and crossing the picturesque Gera river, is a sight to behold. The Krämerbrücke Festival is Thuringia's grandest old town fest, packed with bustling activity, music, energetic open-air concerts, and spectacular fireworks.
Despite the scorching heat, especially on the weekend, the atmosphere continued to spark merriment and peace, as reported by the city administration, attributing this success to the diverse Erfurt cultural scene. Close to 300 artists participated, delivering entertainment on eight stages and six additional action areas.
For the anniversary, Erfurt artist and architect Robert Leuschner created an awe-inspiring installation made of shimmering paillettes—six arches bringing the otherwise hidden vault structure of the bridge to life. You can still witness this marvel on the Krämerbrücke until early July.
The city administration lauded the security measures employed at the festival, reporting no significant incidents and ensuring the smooth implementation of city center closures.
Keeping the good vibes alive, the next Krämerbrücke Festival is planned for June 19-21, 2026. The approximately 120-meter-long bridge, famed as the longest continuously inhabited and built-up bridge in Europe, boasted around 120,000 attendees the previous year.
