Get ready, folks! The city of Chemnitz is gearing up for the "Kosmos" festival, starting this weekend and running till Sunday. The main event's heart is at Schlossteich, but the city's various locations will host numerous satellite events.
Friday night kicks off with the indie-pop trio Blond, joining forces with the Robert-Schumann-Philharmonie on the Theaterplatz. Unfortunately, tickets for this awe-inspiring performance have already sold out!
On Saturday, prepare for a musical extravaganza with pop band Juli ("Geile Zeit", "Perfekte Welle"), the group Deine Freunde, and the singer-songwriter Ami Warning. The festivities don't stop there—show your support for athletes as they glide along more than 1.1 kilometers of slacklines stretched across the city, like at Schlosskirche and between the climbing center at Konkordia Park and Ermafa Passage.
The "Kosmos" festival is a proud part of Chemnitz's role as the European Capital of Culture. Originating from the concert "wirsindmehr" after right-wing extremist riots in 2018, last year, the event drew in a staggering 70,000 people in one day.
Due to numerous street closures and limited parking in the city center, the city administration recommends traveling by bus or train. In fact, they've expanded public transportation services on many lines, including train connections from Dresden to Zwickau and Hof, as well as train lines from Chemnitz to Riesa and Leipzig.
