Kickoff of Kadriorg Festival of Light 2025 marked by spectacular display

The Kadriorg Festival of Light, affectionately known as "Valgus kõnnib 2025" ('Light walks'), is back for its 18th year, illuminating the heart of Estonia's capital with artistic brilliance. This year's event, taking place from Friday to Saturday, is themed around "Inimeseks olemise kunst" ('The art of being human').

The festival, located east of the city centre, near the president's residence, offers a free, enchanting experience for visitors. The installations stretch from the swan pond (Luigetiik) to the flower garden, and extend further to the park concert field and Katariina tee.

Tomi Rahula, the festival project manager, promises a powerful spectacle this year. Visitors can look forward to experiencing eight additional light installations, including the performance "Wish you were here," which will be staged at a separate location next to Merealle.

Two other performances, "Pihlapuu varjus" ('In the shadow of the rowan tree') and "Be nothing," will be shown at different locations during the festival. However, the artist behind the "In the shadow of the rowan tree" installation at this year's event remains unspecified in the available search results.

Head artist Argo Valdmaa's performance uses light and installations to delve into hidden aspects of daily life and how to become a better, more supportive person.

At 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., the performance "Kratt" takes place next to the park's swan pond, adding a captivating element to the night.

Parking spaces may be limited due to the festival, and traffic controls may be implemented around the park. Visitors are encouraged to plan their journey accordingly.

The festival opens at 8 p.m. on Saturday and runs until 11 p.m. For more information, visit the official festival page provided. Prepare to be captivated by the art of being human as you walk through the illuminated Kadriorg park.
