KelTec Expands to Wyoming, Choosing Rock Springs for New Production Site
KelTec, Florida's leading firearms manufacturer, has selected Wyoming as the location for its new production site, KelTec West. The company was drawn to the state's favorable business climate, political stability, and skilled workforce.
Wyoming's lower taxes and less stringent regulations played a significant role in KelTec's decision. Adrian Kellgren, KelTec's director of operations, also praised the state's 'safe harbor' from political situations. The company's founder was further attracted by Wyoming's similarities to Mec-Gar's efficient Alpine factory.
Rock Springs, the chosen location, offers industrial-focused educational opportunities and nearby resource-gathering industries, ensuring a skilled workforce. The existing facility in Rock Springs was chosen for its 15-ton overhead cranes, facilitating efficient production setup. Derek Kellgren, KelTec's director of sales, noted that the facility required minimal updates, making it largely turn-key. Chris Williams, KelTec's Wyoming plant operations manager, designed the facility for a seamless production flow under one roof, unlike KelTec's Florida facilities spread across seven locations.
KelTec's expansion into Wyoming, with the establishment of KelTec West, is expected to create jobs and stimulate the local economy. The company's choice reflects Wyoming's growing appeal as a business destination, offering a supportive environment for manufacturing and a skilled workforce.
