Historic Zille Boat Service Saved for Another Season in Regensburg

The Association for Leisure Activities in the Regensburg Area e.V. has stepped in to ensure the operation of the historic Zille in Marienthal for another season. The 4,000 euro donation will keep this beloved boat service running from May to September, benefiting both locals and tourists.

The Zille, celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, connects the Burgensteig trail between Marienthal and Burg Stockenfels with other routes in the area. This improves accessibility to these trails, enhancing the region's quality of life. The boat service, available from May to the end of September, is an attractive offer for relaxation, supported by the Association for Leisure Activities.

Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer praises the unique experience of a ride on the Zille and advocates for its continued availability. District Administrator Tanja Schweiger also supports the Zille operation, viewing it as an investment in sustainable leisure culture for future generations. The Association for Leisure Activities regularly backs projects like this, aiming to expand leisure opportunities and strengthen the region.

The 4,000 euro donation ensures the Zille Marienthal's continued existence and supports its further development. This contribution plays a central role in the region's leisure activities, facilitating access to hiking trails and serving as an attraction for tourists and locals alike.
