In the vibrant city of Fargo, North Dakota, a new entertainment hub is about to light up the night sky. The Roundtable, a private teen nightclub, is set to open its doors, offering local teenagers a much-needed space to socialise and dance the night away.

The brainchild of Marilyn Scott, who felt a deep sympathy for the lack of entertainment options for the youth in the area, The Roundtable was conceived with the intention of providing a safe and enjoyable environment for teenagers. Marilyn, along with her husband Donald Scott, the manager of the Dakota National Bank's branch in the South Side Shopping Center, will be managing the club.

The Roundtable will be located at 215 N. University Drive, previously occupied by Vic's Super Valu. The club spans approximately 4,500 square feet of space, large enough to accommodate around 400 teenagers at dances.

On weeknights, Wednesdays and Thursdays, a free "Discoteen" event will take place. However, on Fridays and Saturdays, live "combos" featuring area bands will be performed, adding an extra layer of excitement to the weekend.

Memberships can be purchased at Musicland, at the Taco Shop, or at the door after opening. The membership fee for The Roundtable is a modest $2 a year. Each teenager will pay $1 for their evening's fun, with a guest permitted to join for an additional $1. If both members of a couple are present, the combined charge will be $1.50 instead of $2.

The club will maintain a strict policy, with no tolerance for misconduct. Anyone leaving will have to pay to re-enter. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all, The Roundtable will be controlled and monitored closely.

In addition to the dance floor, which will feature special lighting including back-lighting and black lighting around the walls, a refreshment stand offering food items such as hamburgers, soft drinks, and ice cream will also be available.

It is worth mentioning that The Roundtable was the first teenage nightclub of its kind in the Fargo area, opening its doors back in 1965. The Roundtable was a private club, open only to youths aged 15 to 20, who were required to carry membership cards at $2 a year.

One intriguing aspect that remains a mystery is the band that played on the opening day of The Roundtable in 1965. Despite extensive research, no relevant information was found in the search results. Regardless, The Roundtable is poised to become a beacon of youthful excitement and camaraderie in the heart of Fargo.

Lastly, it is important to note that no liquor will be allowed on or near the premises of The Roundtable, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all. The Roundtable is set to open evenings, from Wednesday through Saturday, from 8 p.m. to midnight. Get ready, Fargo teenagers, The Roundtable is here to stay!
