Guided tour of the night watchman in Lippstadt on 23rd September
Get ready for an unforgettable journey through time as we take you on a medieval tour of Lippstadt's city centre, led by the charismatic Night Watchman Ewald.
On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 8:00 PM, the tour will begin at the Town Hall. Dressed in full medieval regalia, complete with a halberd, horn, and lantern, Ewald will guide you through the rugged charm of the Middle Ages.
The tour is designed to be both entertaining and educational, with laughter and amazement encouraged. As you traverse the route, which includes the Burgerbrunnen, Marienkirche, Helle Halle, Metzgeramtshaus, I. Pfad, Kahlenstraße, Nikolaikirche, Ignaz-Knievel- and Nicolaiweg, St. Annen-Rosengarten, Soeststraße, Levi- and Zurhelle-Platz, and ends back at the Town Hall, Ewald will share his knowledge and local tales.
One such tale is the murder in the Burgerkloster after a drinking spree. Ewald's resonant voice and medieval speech will bring these stories to life, pausing frequently to announce the time with the call, "Hear ye, people, and let me tell you..."
The tour will also highlight the dangers that lurked in the night during that time. Some of the darker corners may be learned to be feared. But don't worry, Ewald will also share insights into the duties of a night watchman during the tour.
The tour is limited in number of participants, so registration is requested at the City Information Office in the Town Hall or by phone at 02941-58515. The fee for adults is 8.00 euros, while children, teenagers, and students pay 4.00 euros. The tour duration is approximately 75 minutes.
Join Night Watchman Ewald for an evening of adventure and history, and experience Lippstadt like never before! And remember, laughter and amazement are encouraged during the tour. See you there!
