Gresham Smith Opens New Detroit Office, Expanding in Michigan

Gresham Smith, a leading architecture, engineering, and consultancy firm, has opened a new office in Southfield, Michigan. The move is part of the company's ongoing growth and commitment to the Detroit Tigers area, a region with a rich history of innovation and manufacturing excellence.

The new office, located in the Southfield Town Center, spans 6,200 square feet on the 28th floor of the 3000 Town Center building. It is designed to accommodate up to 45 employees and embraces a hybrid, free address/unassigned workstation model, fostering collaboration and flexibility.

The office's grand opening was attended by Gresham Smith's leadership, clients, and key partners, including the City of Southfield Mayor Ken Siver. The event marked a significant milestone in the firm's expansion in the region.

Rodney Chester, CEO and board chair of Gresham Smith, expressed excitement about continuing to grow in Detroit. Since 2023, the firm has supported companies such as Livent Corporation and Romeo Power in Michigan, collaborating with local lithium-ion battery manufacturers and suppliers for project planning and execution. The firm's longstanding history of serving automotive clients in the greater Detroit Tigers area has also seen it deliver projects for Gerald R. Ford International Airport, Jackson National Life Insurance Company, and McLaren Greater Lansing hospital.

Charles Poat, AIA, LEED AP, a vice president with over 25 years of experience, leads the new office. He joined the firm's Industrial market in 2023 and has advised clients on numerous high-profile projects.
