Freiburg Seefest Attracts Thousands Despite Challenging Weather
The vibrant city of Freiburg, Germany, recently hosted the seventh edition of the Freiburg Seefest, a three-day event that brought together live music, a food truck area, amusement rides, and a diverse array of stands for a memorable culinary and entertaining experience.
Organised by Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH & Co. KG (FWTM) in collaboration with the Bürgerverein Freiburg-Mooswald, the Freiburg Seefest took place at the Seepark from July 25 to 27, 2025. Despite challenging weather conditions, the event managed to attract around 19,000 visitors, according to the organisers.
One of the highlights of the Freiburg Seefest was the Children's Olympics, a competition that saw around 400 children participating in games such as football darts, hobby horsing, and tire target throwing. Prizes for the winners included water balls, pens, frisbees, and other items. The participation fee from the Children's Olympics raised 1,600 euros for the Förderverein der Gerhart-Hauptmann-Schule.
The Children's Olympics was supported by various organisations, including the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Schule, the Freiburg-Lehen youth fire brigade, Schwarzwaldgaudi, Sparkasse Freiburg, Badeparadies Schwarzwald, Badenova, dm, Burger King, Hobby Horsing Club Kaiserstuhl, Literaturhaus Freiburg, and Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof.
Jens Mohrmann, managing director of FWTM, stated that the Seefest is a cross-generational format with great resonance. The success of the event further strengthens Freiburg's status as an economic and sustainable hub, as FWTM primarily focuses on promoting such events.
In addition to the Freiburg Seefest, FWTM has planned two upcoming events in Freiburg. The Freiburg Night Fair Market is scheduled for August 9, 2025, at the FWTM venue in Baden-Württemberg. The Smoke&Glut 2025 event is scheduled for March 27, 2026, also at the FWTM location.
A recent event organised by FWTM was the Summer Night Wine 2025, which took place on July 26, 2025, at La Cornerie x POW in Freiburg. The event featured open-air wine tasting with about 20 wineries, live music, and a relaxed atmosphere. However, this seems to be a local private venue event rather than directly organised by FWTM.
