Cutting Edge Films, a renowned postproduction house based in Taipei, is making waves at the Busan International Film Festival and Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM) with its latest expansion. The company has announced a partnership with acclaimed French colorist Yov Moor, a rare Western talent deeply embedded in Asia's film industries.
Yov Moor, who is based in Tokyo, has a distinguished career in the industry. He is best known for his lush grading work on Cannes titles such as Tran Anh Hung's "The Taste of Things" and Gilles Lellouche's "Beating Hearts". Moor has also worked with Matthieu Laclau at Cutting Edge Films, building a shared resume of 10 films together. Their collaboration began with Midi Z's "The Road to Mandalay" and has continued over the years.
The expansion adds to the momentum of Cutting Edge Films' expansion. The pair's recent work has contributed significantly to the success of the company. Cutting Edge Films has become a fixture at top festivals, and this partnership promises to further solidify its position.
At the Busan International Film Festival and ACFM, Moor is expected to work on new film projects, but the exact titles or details are not yet available. Many of the films worked on by Moor and Laclau were produced by Cutting Edge's co-founder Justine O.
In a statement, Cutting Edge praised Moor and Laclau for pushing boundaries, enhancing the director's vision, and bringing films to the level international festivals demand. The company is proud to welcome Yov Moor to Cutting Edge Films.
Over the years, Cutting Edge and Yov Moor have built trust and friendship, and their shared wish is to collaborate on as many films as possible. This partnership marks the latest expansion of Cutting Edge Films, a boutique editing and finishing shop.
The expansion also adds to Taipei's reputation as one of Asia's most dynamic post hubs, offering world-class finishing at competitive costs. Among the films Cutting Edge partners have arrived with in Busan are The Sun Rises on Us All by Cai Shangjun and Tetsuya Mariko's Dear Stranger.
Tom Hsin-Ming Lin handled the edit on Lee Hong-chi's Dance in Vain, and Yov Moor graded Richard Linklater's Nouvelle Vague and Juliette Binoche's experimental project In-I In Motion.
Moor, like Laclau, is among the rare Western postproduction talents deeply embedded in Asia's film industries. Cutting Edge Films is undoubtedly set to continue its successful journey with the addition of Yov Moor to its creative team.
