Farmers successfully gather initial batch of strawberries
It's time to gather your baskets, folks! The strawberry picking season has officially started in the Krasnodar region, with a significant 97% of the strawberries coming from private farming activities. The Belorechensky and Dinskoy districts take the crown for producing muscat strawberries, marking the earliest picking spots.
With the first harvest of Kuban strawberries collected in April, the masses can expect a full stock of local produce on store shelves by early May. By then, it's a wrap on meeting the demand for the vibrant, juicy goodness!
In 2024, Kuban farmers broke records, yielding an astounding 660,000 tons of fruit and berry products. Among them, 1,125 tons of strawberries were harvested, setting a new high. This year, they're aiming even higher, beyond the previous record.
As for the cost of Kuban strawberries in 2025, it looks like an increase compared to last season is on the horizon. However, for precise figures on the price hike, you'll want to dive into regional market reports or follow agricultural news closely.
