Exhibiting groundbreaking solar technology for eco-friendly bus transportation at Busworld Europe 2023, our organization showcases its cutting-edge solar solutions.
Sono Group N.V., a company dedicated to making every vehicle solar, is set to showcase its groundbreaking Solar Bus Kit at Busworld Europe 2023 in Brussels from October 7-12. This innovative solar retrofit solution, designed specifically for common 12-meter public transport buses, promises to revolutionise the bus industry by reducing emissions and fuel costs.
The Solar Bus Kit, installed on existing buses, consists of approximately eight square meters of solar panels. These panels are strategically placed to partially generate the electricity needed to power large auxiliary loads like air conditioning systems, thus reducing the reliance on diesel fuel.
This kit enables fleet operators to convert conventional diesel buses into partially solar-powered vehicles without the need for purchasing new buses with factory-installed solar technology. Sono offers both retrofit kits for existing vehicles and factory-installed solar solutions for new vehicles, ensuring flexible and scalable solar integration.
In terms of environmental impact, the Solar Bus Kit can save approximately 1,500 liters of diesel fuel per bus annually, correspondingly reducing CO2 emissions by up to four tonnes per bus each year. This reduction arises from the solar panels offsetting diesel fuel consumption, particularly by powering energy-intensive bus systems.
Sono also provides a Solar Fleet Dashboard, a user-friendly interface that allows fleet managers to monitor solar power yield, fuel savings, and CO2 reduction in real time. This data-driven approach supports more informed operational decisions to maximise sustainability benefits.
Jona Christians, CEO and co-founder of Sono Group, stated that the Solar Bus Kit can demonstrate a simple and cost-effective way to sustainably reduce bus transport emissions. He further emphasised that Sono's mission is to make every vehicle solar to contribute to a more sustainable future.
Busworld Europe, the world's largest B2B trade fair for buses and coaches, is the perfect platform for Sono Group to showcase its innovative technology. This year's edition, the first in four years due to the Corona-related break, focuses on the shift to electromobility and the reduction of CO2 emissions from bus traffic.
