Dubai's Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Honored as Inspirational Literary Figure
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has been bestowed the title of Inspirational Literary Figure for Silk Road Poets by the World Silk Road Forum. This recognition honors his pivotal role in transforming Dubai into a cultural bridge between East and West, embodying the spirit of the historic Silk Road while infusing it with a modern Emirati essence.
The fifth Silk Road International Poetry Festival will take place in Dubai from May 23 to 29, marking the first time the event is hosted in an Arab city. The festival's award ceremony is scheduled for May 27 at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, with participation from approximately 50 poets, artists, and painters. The event will receive media coverage from about 20 Chinese press agencies, including the People's Daily.
Sheikh Mohammed's literary accomplishments are renowned for their eloquence and profundity, particularly in the realm of Nabati poetry. His works, such as Zayed (2018), Flashes of Verse (2014), and 40 Poems from the Desert (2011), delve into themes of heritage, leadership, and human experiences. Furthermore, his passion for horses is reflected in his poetry collections.

The World Silk Road Forum highlighted Sheikh Mohammed's poetry in its World Poets magazine, featuring translations into Chinese and an editorial examining his literary impact.
The festival will encompass poetry readings, discussions, and exhibitions at essential cultural sites such as the Museum of the Future and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Emirati poet Adel Khozam has been appointed co-chair, recognized for his regional influence and international collaborations.
