District authorities in Grünwald are pushing for a noisier parade, sparking controversy among local politicians.

In the vibrant city of Munich, the annual Krachparade, a demonstration against high rents and the lack of space for the city's subculture, has caused quite a stir. This year, the event took place on Ascension Day, starting and ending at the Theresienwiese, and marching through Ludwigs- and Isarvorstadt.

The Krachparade, known for its lively atmosphere and vocal expressions, has been a subject of complaints due to its volume. Residents, particularly those on Auenstraße, have reported unbearable noise levels in their apartments during the event. The noise pollution was so intense that it sparked concerns from Rudolf Cermak (CSU) and other local authorities.

Amidst the noise controversy, a proposal was made to relocate the Krachparade to Grünwald, a quieter, more residential area on the outskirts of Munich. Bettina Ulrichs, a member of the Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt district council, suggested this alternative location, hoping it would cause less disturbance to the general public and residents.

Arne Brach, a Green Party member, also supported the idea, believing that moving such events to less densely populated or more accommodating neighbourhoods could help balance the right to protest with maintaining public order and peace.

However, not everyone agrees with the relocation. Claudia Lowitz (Greens) expressed understanding for the Krachparade and young people making noise in a city where they are not usually heard. She believes the event serves as a valuable platform for their voices to be heard.

The Krachparade, initiated by the group "More Noise for Munich," has been a significant event in the city's calendar for many years. Despite the noise-related issues, the organizers have emphasized that all limits were adhered to during this year's demonstration.

As the city of Munich continues to grapple with the challenges of balancing public events with the needs and comfort of its residents, the Krachparade serves as a reminder of the ongoing dialogue between the city's vibrant subculture and its growing urban population.

Despite the Krachparade's prominent place in Munich's lifestyle calendar, the event's volume often disrupts the home-and-garden peace of nearby residents, particularly on Auenstraße, as evidenced by repeated complaints. Bettina Ulrichs, a local council member, has proposed a home-and-garden relocation to Grünwald to alleviate this issue.
