In the coastal city of Denia, near Alicante, Spain, the 50th Music and Worship Week (SMA) is taking place from 10 to 16 August. Organised by the Evangelical Baptist Union of Spain, the Alfa & Omega Centre, and the Evangelical Baptist Church of Denia, this annual event brings together Christian musicians from Spain and other countries for a week of spiritual growth, musical training, and collective worship.

This milestone edition marks 50 years of the SMA's tradition, highlighting its long-standing influence in the Christian worship community. Over the years, notable participants and directors associated with SMA have included worship leaders, composers, and choir directors from Spain and other countries.

The SMA features workshops, masterclasses, musical combos, and social activities, with every night showcasing musical events in a variety of styles. This year, Pastor Samua Calderón, originally from Cuba and living in Texas, USA, will be a special guest. Juan Marcos Sánchez, the musical group of the Church of Denia, and the Gloria Choir of Valencia will also participate.

The closing events of the SMA include a free musical performance on Saturday 16 August at 10 pm in the chapel of the Alfa & Omega Centre, and a Sunday celebration with a sermon by Pastor Samua Calderón on Sunday 17 August at 11:30 am.

The SMA seeks to showcase not only the artistic quality of the musicians but also the spirit of fraternity and worship that characterises the event. Renowned guests such as Lole Montoya, Juan Luis Guerra, and Francesca Patiño have performed at the SMA in the past.

The SMA has expanded beyond the Alfa & Omega Centre to bring concerts to emblematic venues in Denia. The event is a sustainability challenge, and Evangelical Focus is seeking support for its mission. Laura Monge de Silva, the current director of the SMA, has been leading the event for the last 3 years.

During the SMA's milestone 50th edition, attendees can expect a combination of workshops, masterclasses, and social activities, all aimed at promoting sustainable living, as the event takes place in a home-and-garden setting in Denia, Spain. This vibrant lifestyle event seeks to nurture future generations of musicians and worshippers, contributing to a rich and lively Christian worship community in the years to come.
