Customs Raid in Augsburg Hospitality Sector Uncovers Illegal Employment Cases

Last Tuesday, the Main Customs Office Augsburg conducted a local inspection day in the hospitality and accommodation industry. Over 50 officers were involved, checking for employee registration with social security, social benefits fraud, and minimum wage payment. 25 businesses were inspected, and 60 people were questioned about their employment relationships. The inspection aimed to combat illegal work and illegal employment, contributing to detecting and punishing violations and reducing social acceptance of such activities.

The inspection, part of the FKS's regular nationwide and regional checks based on a risk-oriented approach, uncovered several cases requiring further investigation. Three suspected cases of illegal employment of foreigners and four of withholding social security contributions were identified.
