Construction of cross-streets has commenced in the center of Krasnoyarsk
Get Ready for a Fresher, More Attractive Krasnoyarsk!
A stunning revamp is underway in Krasnoyarsk, with the central perpendicular streets receiving some much-needed love ahead of the city's anniversary. Four streets are slated for makeovers this year!
Crews are already hard at work on Karatanova Street, removing the sidewalk paving, clearing off bollards, and hauling away street furniture. The bricks and asphalt will be stored away, and reused later during another renovation project.
Since these streets nestle inside a historical zone, archeologists will soon join the action on 9 January Street, followed by Karatanova Street.
Renovations on Perenson and Dzerzhinsky Streets are next, commencing from Ady Lebedevoy Street.
In total, a whopping 15 perpendicular streets in the heart of Krasnoyarsk are set to receive a beautiful makeover:
Karatanova, 9 January, Paris Commune, Surikov, Veinbauum, Perenson, Kirvo, Dictatorship of the Proletariat, Dzerzhinsky, Defense, Gorky, Decembrists, Robespierre, Profsyoz, and the unsightly section of Razuovsky Lane.
Work on four of these streets is expected to wrap up this season itself.
The renovated streets will cater better to pedestrians. The sidewalks will be divided into zones - facade, transit, greenery, technical - using various types of pavement. All accessways to buildings and courtyards will be constructed with gentle slopes, as will approaches to pedestrian crossings. Street cameras, drainage systems, uniform street furniture, and greenery will adorn these streets.
Let's not forget, the entire project cost a whopping 64 million rubles!
