CoMoUK's Edinburgh Mobility Hub Trial a Success, Four More Hubs Planned

CoMoUK has concluded a successful trial of a pop-up mobility hub in Edinburgh. The temporary hub, which operated for seven weeks from late July to mid-September, combined various transport options and community services in one location. It was praised for promoting active travel by Laura Wright, Scotland director at CoMoUK.

The mobility hub was initially installed on Pennywell Road in Edinburgh to encourage active travel. After its time in Edinburgh, the hub was relocated to Hawick in the Scottish Borders. Despite the trial's end, CoMoUK has plans to expand. Four more pop-up mobility hubs are set to open in Ayrshire, Stirling, and Glasgow in the coming days, although the specific city in Scotland for the next hub was not explicitly mentioned. Residents in Edinburgh and Hawick expressed interest in potential future permanent mobility hubs, indicating the positive reception of the temporary facilities.

The pop-up mobility hub trial in Edinburgh has come to an end, but CoMoUK's commitment to promoting active travel continues. With four more hubs planned in Ayrshire, Stirling, and Glasgow, and positive feedback from residents, the future of mobility hubs in Scotland looks promising.
