Commemorating two decades of World Children's Day
Get ready for a memorable day as Gummersbach's city centre transforms into a vibrant hub of fun and festivities for the 20th edition of the World Children's Day on September 27th.
Themed "A grand birthday party", this family festival promises to be an unforgettable experience for all. Over 65 actors and attractions, including kindergartens, schools, associations, and local institutions, will participate, making it a truly community-driven event.
The day's schedule is packed with exciting activities. The celebrations kick off with the Mouse Show performing on the stage from 13:00, followed by the children's rock band Pelemele from Bonn at 17:00. In between, music lover's ears will be treated to a live performance by Tom Lehel, musician and anti-bullying ambassador, at 15:00.
One of the main highlights of the event is the opportunity for children to climb a 22-meter-high crane, offering a thrilling bird's-eye view of the festivities. For the more adventurous, there will be rides, bouncy castles, and face painting.
A children's flea market and an intercultural art project with children from Lesotho will also be showcased, promoting cultural exchange and diversity.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable day, the health department will be present with interactive stands. Additionally, a birthday rally with local businesses in Gummersbach is another highlight, fostering a sense of community spirit.
The event is generously supported by AggerEnergie, Volksbank Oberberg, and GMErleben, demonstrating the strong backing from local organisations and associations.
The preparations for this grand celebration were discussed at a pre-meeting on September 10th at the Johanniter Family Center Strombach.
