Colorful Autumn Displays at the Lithuanian National Museum of Art: Ranging from radiating comet-like exhibitions to the imagined apocalypse, this season promises a vibrant spectacle.
The Lithuanian National Museum of Art (LNMA) is gearing up for an exciting autumn season, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in art as a means of escape and reflection. The museum has prepared a diverse lineup of exhibitions, spanning various genres and themes, ranging from photography and contemporary art to historical narratives.
Kicking off the season on October 7, the Vilnius Picture Gallery will open three photography exhibitions. The exhibitions, woven into one narrative, will include "Bright City, Dark Times: Vilnius through the Lens of 19th-Century Photographer Wilhelm Zacharczyk," featuring a collection of 51 photographic images from the Vilnius Album safeguarded by the LNMA. Another exhibition, "Here Then, There Now. Location - Vilnius," presents Dovile Dagiene's passage-of-time-recording sun photography, inspired by the images of Zacharczyk.
On the same day, the Museum of Applied Arts and Design of the LNMA will open an exhibition titled "Peace in a Cup of Tea. The Culture of Tea Drinking," focusing on Lithuania's unique tea drinking tradition. Meanwhile, the Pranas Domsaitis Gallery of the LNMA in Klaipeda will open an exhibition titled "Even if it's the End of the World: The Landscape in Lithuanian Photography" on October 24.
Jurga Barilaite will complete her trilogy project Dreams of the Living and Delusions of the Dead with a solo exhibit at the Radvila Palace Museum of Art on a yet-to-be-announced date. The exhibition promises to be a captivating culmination of her artistic journey.
The Museum of Applied Arts and Design of the LNMA will also host the display "See the Yet Unseen Lest You Never See It" on November 27, which will relocate treasures from the museum storage area to the exhibition spaces.
International events are also on the agenda. The Palanga Amber Museum of the LNMA will open an international exhibition Unexpected Amber: Strong Feelings on September 26, bringing together 20 creatives from eight countries. The exhibition explores the themes of memories and imagination of the northern landscape.

The LNMA has also prepared a scientific conference At the Crossroads of Nature and World View in connection to the exhibition, which will take place on November 19 - 20.
In addition to these exhibitions, the LNMA has planned 13 new events for its visitors, including historical narratives and contemporary art. The 15th edition of the Young Designer Prize competition was held on September 4 at the Museum of Applied Arts and Design of the LNMA.
The season will close with exhibitions by Hong Kong born artist Oscar Chan Yik Long and German Netherlands-based photography artist Claudia Heinermann at the Radvila Palace Museum of Art and the Museum of Applied Arts and Design of the LNMA, respectively, on November 27.
