Frankfurt, Germany, is encouraging local restaurateurs to join the "Nice Toilet" initiative, a scheme that encourages businesses to offer their restrooms to the public for free. The goal is to address the issue of limited public toilets and improve the cleanliness and safety of the city's facilities.

The Office for Construction and Real Estate (ABI) is inviting interested catering establishments to participate in this program by making their sanitary facilities available to the public. In return, they will receive financial support from the city. So far, several restaurateurs have expressed their interest.

Frankfurt joins several other municipalities in the program, which aims to increase the number of clean and accessible public restrooms. As part of the city's efforts, it plans to develop 26 locations for public toilets, including renovations, new buildings, and reactivating closed locations.

The "Nice Toilet" program was developed in 2002 by an agency in cooperation with the city of Aalen in Baden-Württemberg. Currently, more than 20 municipalities in Hesse participate, including Melsungen, Wetzlar, Marburg, Idstein, Gießen, Dreieich, Bensheim, and Rüdesheim am Rhein.

Participating businesses will be identified by a sticker on their door, which signifies the equipment of the toilets, such as accessibility features, barrier-free design, or simply a restroom. In addition, there is an app that provides information about the participating businesses, making it easy for the public to find a "Nice Toilet" near them.

Restaurants interested in joining the program should research local initiatives, meet the criteria set by the program, apply or register, and commit to maintaining and improving their facilities to meet ongoing standards. Participating in the "Nice Toilet" program can provide a competitive advantage, enhanced customer experience, and increased visibility. For more detailed information, local tourism boards and business associations can be contacted for further assistance.

The community of restaurateurs in Frankfurt, Germany, can seek aid from the city to participate in the "Nice Toilet" initiative, offering vocational training on improved home-and-garden design for restroom facilities to enhance the public's lifestyle. As these facilities become more accessible and clean, they may also provide vocational training opportunities for locals.
