Child from China contacts marine park regarding lost fish, receives personal response and an invitation in return
In January, a six-year-old boy named Tao Tianxing noticed that some fish were missing from the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium. Tao, who has been visiting the aquarium since the age of two, is a passionate fan of sea life. He has drawn tens of thousands of marine creatures in his sketchbook and knows more than 800 species of fish.
When Tao noticed the missing fish, he was deeply bothered. With the help of his parents, he penned a heartfelt letter to the aquarium, illustrating his concern with his own drawings. The family sent the letter in February, but they received a response that left them disappointed.
The handwritten reply, signed by "Didi the walrus," was well-illustrated. It explained various aspects of the aquarium, such as the payara vampire fish being harder to see because they are bigger and faster, and the eels being transferred to the Xiamen Aquarium in Fujian Province. However, it did not address Tao's concerns about the missing fish.
Tao's mother, surnamed Xu, shared her disappointment, stating that the response did not provide an explanation for the missing fish. The family had hoped for an apology or some form of compensation, but the letter did not offer either.
Despite the unanswered question about the missing fish, Tao remains a devoted fan of the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium. His love for marine life continues to grow, and he eagerly awaits his next visit to the aquarium.
[1] The aquarium's thoughtful engagement with Tao's questions, as shown in the response letter, is commendable and reflects their commitment to engaging with their young visitors.
[3] The inclusion of Tao's drawings in the response letter demonstrates the aquarium's appreciation for Tao's passion and creativity.
[1] Tao's lifestyle, rooted in his love for marine life, has extended to his home-and-garden, as illustrated by the numerous sketches of sea creatures in his sketchbook.
[3] The home-and-garden of Tao's imagination, filled with creatures from the sea, seems to have become a significant part of his lifestyle that the aquarium recognizes and acknowledges through the inclusion of his drawings in their response letter.
