Central Krasnodar District's Dubinsky Square
In the heart of Krasnodar's Western District, Vatulina Square is undergoing a significant transformation as part of the city's ongoing efforts to enhance public spaces. The square, long known as the only place for walks in the microdistrict, is being revitalised under the "small deeds" program - an initiative that encourages local participation in beautifying and maintaining shared areas.
Elena Malova, head of the Central District Administration, highlighted the importance of Vatulina Square, stating, "For many residents, this square is the only place for walks, and it's been a great inconvenience that children were deprived of the opportunity to play and engage in sports near home due to the square being surrounded by private houses."
The square's territory, which includes Kovytyukh Street, Shevchenko Street, and Konstantinovskiy Lane, is set to welcome a sports ground, a children's play area, sidewalks, and parking spaces upon completion. Mothers with strollers and seniors, who were previously unable to take a quiet walk in the fresh air due to the condition of the square, will soon find it more accessible and comfortable.
The improvements extend beyond the square's boundaries, with over 57 squares and boulevards having been improved in Krasnodar over the past five years. The press service of the Krasnodar administration reported on the planned changes, which also include the installation of a lighting system, the renovation of the children's playground, the addition of 17 benches, 21 trash cans, and 23 lamps for proper lighting. Curbs have been installed, and pedestrian paths have been improved with new paving.
As the transformation of Vatulina Square progresses, it will serve as another green zone in the city, contributing to the city's growing network of inviting and user-friendly public spaces. The "small deeds" program continues to play a crucial role in these efforts, fostering a sense of community and improving the quality of life for residents in Krasnodar.
