Celebratory closing of Tubô Cebu Art Fair 2025, honoring tradition and unity within the arts community
Tubi Cebu Art Fair 2025 Closes Successful Eighth Edition
Tubi Cebu Art Fair, a celebrated event in the cultural calendar of Cebu, concluded its eighth edition on August 31. The fair, which took place at Ayala Center Cebu from August 29 to 31, aimed to bring people together to honour what has been built and to imagine what comes next.
The fair, initiated by Alex Baluyan, featured a wide array of artworks from established and emerging artists. A special collection of works by Martino Abellana, the Dean of Cebuano Painters, was showcased. Additionally, a collection of works by Jonathan Abellana, Khriss Bajade, Gabi Nazareno, and John Villoria was introduced to audiences.
The first session of the Fresh Strokes Series, a platform for rising Cebuano artists, was moderated by Prof. Raymund Fernandez. The second session was led by Prof. Palmy Pe-Tudtud. The series featured artists such as Maite Zuluaga, Subhelic, Densen Almeda, Puny, Marianne Guinto, and Roy Ingente.
Tubi Talks, a panel discussion, concluded the fair on August 31. The panel was led by Prof. Jay Nathan Jore and included Abellana, Bajade, Nazareno, and Villoria.
Fair Director Allen Arvin Tan emphasised the importance of supporting the arts economy of Cebu by buying art, regardless of its size. He emphasised that art is not just about objects on display but also about relationships, memory, and exchange.
The event had media partnerships with Agimat, Keetaph, Art+ Magazine, MYTV, Cebu Daily News Digital, and PRWorks, Inc. On August 30, Writer's Block led by Nark, Noer, and Kane created a live mural at Atua Midtown.
The theme of this year's fair was 'Provenance,' reflecting the importance of understanding the history and origins of art. Tubi Cebu Art Fair encourages direct engagement between artists and buyers, with artists selling their work without galleries standing in between.
Proceeds from the sales at Tubi Cebu Art Fair go towards the Arts Council of Cebu's education programs. The August 29 opening featured the book launch of 'Si Jimsky ug ang Tanghaga sa Balay sa Balay sa Agta' by Josua Cabrera.
As the fair closed its eighth edition, it left a lasting impact on the Cebuano arts community and beyond. The organisers expressed their gratitude to the artists, sponsors, and attendees for their support and enthusiasm. Tubi Cebu Art Fair looks forward to continuing its mission of promoting and celebrating Cebuano art in the years to come.
